From the beginning I wasn't going to do a food type blog but I have some recipes that a friend shared with me, many of these are the old type recipes like those that used to be written down on a 3X5 card and I thought they were neat.
All recipes will be categorized on the right under labels under words like "cookies" or "dinners". And last but not least this will only be a recipe blog. Much as I would love to make it more I wouldn't have the time.

Enjoy!

This recipe will fill roughly 7 quart jars. You will need a large saucepan or even a stockpot to cook it in.

5 cups sugar (I use brown sugar but it's your choice)
1 1/4 cups corn starch
3 tsp ground cinnamon
3/4 tsp nutmeg
1 1/4 tsp salt
4 tbsp lemon juice
7 - 8 lbs apples peeled, cored and sliced

1. In a large saucepan blend first 4 ingredients
2. add 1 1/4 tsp salt
3. stir in 11 cups of water
Cook and stir until thickened and bubbly.
4. Add lemon juice
5. Pack apples into jars leaving 1 inch headspace
6. add syrup to jars using a knife to distribute evenly
7. Adjust lids and process in boiling water bath for 30 minutes
